Total volume organic waste treated in year of 2023 at Universitas Syiah Kuala
Organic waste in the form of leaves and food waste comes from the USK environment. The leaves are delivered by the cleaning service in a sorted state to BSU USK which specializes in handling organic waste. Food waste from household waste, canteens, and leftovers from activities that involve food waste are also collected at BSU.
The amount of this organic material per month varies, especially leaves depending on the level of loss from the tree. The highest numbers are usually in months with a high frequency of rainy days, especially if accompanied by storms.
All organic materials are processed into organic fertilizer at BSU. BSU USK has adequate waste processing equipment as shown in the following picture.
