Precast Multi-level Wall Ring on well wall as solution leakage prevention from household wastewater pollution
Clean water is a basic need that cannot be negotiated, especially for village communities who depend on wells with groundwater sources and there is no clean water service from the state water company PT. PAM. The challenge of getting a groundwater source that is clean, high quality and not contaminated by waste originating from the ground surface due to household industrial activities, septic tanks and so on, is ensuring that the well water comes from the bottom of the ground. Therefore, deep well infrastructure in maintaining clean water quality to avoid leaks and the risk of contamination in conventional wells is a challenge that is often faced by the community in Meunasah Baet and Meunasah Manyang Villages.

Responding to this need, the Service Team from Syiah Kuala University (USK) collaborates with local industrial partners, namely Tirta Mitra Solusi and Multipurpose Engineering Workshop Design, developing multi-level innovation as an infrastructure solution for conventional well rings so that the well wall infrastructure is stronger against horizontal water leaks and clean water enters only through the bottom hole vertically upwards. The situation of groundwater entering from the bottom of the well is the hope or target of the way conventional wells work so far. Groundwater entering from the bottom has been filtered by the soil and the well wall infrastructure will prevent leakage or entry of water from household wastewater pollution originating from the ground surface.
This multi-level precast well ring innovation is designed to facilitate installation in the field and add a layer of protection to well water from contamination and leaks. The multi-stage design allows this well ring to be applied at varying depths and is resistant to ground pressure and environmental changes. Through durability and material quality tests, the team ensured that this well ring could be a long-term solution for local communities.
In the field, the USK Service Team not only installed this innovative product, but also held socialization and technical training sessions for the community in Meunasah Baet and Meunasah Manyang Villages. Public enthusiasm is very high, considering that this innovation offers a practical and economical solution that can significantly improve the quality of their clean water.
This collaboration not only provides technical solutions, but also builds strong synergy between USK and local industrial partners in responding to community needs. With sustainability and replication in the future, it is hoped that the multi-level Precast Well Ring innovation can become an inspiring model for other regions that face similar challenges regarding clean water.
